From Intern to Staff to Friend

September 8, 2010

Our StaffThe SOLD Project wants to give a public krop kuhn mak! (Thank you so much!) to Shannon O’Malley, a wonderful staff member who is moving on to graduate school in England this fall!  Shannon has been instrumental in SOLD’s development in the last few years, and she will be greatly missed!

Shannon began her relationship with SOLD as an intern in 2009, then came on staff in Pleasanton, CA for 1.5 years.  (There’s still time to apply to our fall 2010 internship program!)  In that time, she organized multiple events, started a local high school internship program, and oversaw numerous volunteers in our main offices.  She was both an effective fundraiser and office manager, as well as a silent auction extraordinaire!

“In many ways,” says Rachel Goble-Carey, our Executive director who worked with Shannon in our Pleasanton, CA office for over a year. “Shannon was the glue for SOLD while the rest of us ran all over the place!  I was deeply impressed by her work ethic and the fresh ideas she brought to the table.”

Shannon is a Stand 4 FREEDOM donor, sacrificing $4 week to provide resources for a scholarship student in our program.  Her gifts allow a student to attend the Resource Center, get tutoring, participate in mentorship and trafficking awareness, and more.  (Learn more about how her donation is changing lives in this short video.)

Shannon, we all love you so much.  Your passion is met only be your determination, and your future is so bright.  Thank you for all you have given to SOLD and the children we’re fighting for.  You are going to accomplish amazing things, and we’re truly proud to know you.  Enjoy England and stay in touch!
