January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month

January 11, 2011

Today is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, and the month of January has been deemed an entire month of awareness.  Check out the oh-so formal announcement from one President Obama:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim January 2010 as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, culminating in the annual celebration of National Freedom Day on February 1. I call upon the people of the United States to recognize the vital role we can play in ending modern slavery, and to observe this month with appropriate programs and activities.

Tweet #endslaverytoday to share with organizations like World Vision, International Justice Mission, Not for Sale, and The SOLD Project about what you are doing to share with your friends and family that human trafficking is happening and there is something they can do about it.

Get ready for NATIONAL FREEDOM DAY on February 1st!
