Engaged Couple “Registers” w/ SOLD

August 17, 2011

Re:ACT StoryRecently, engaged couple Neil and Cambria asked people to donate to The SOLD Project instead of bringing a wrapped present to the wedding reception.

Neil and Cambria weren’t big fans of the idea of asking people for gifts, especially people who couldn’t make it to the wedding. “I have wanted to be a person who gives generously to those in need and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity!” And, ladies, you gotta love Neil’s other reason: “Cambria is the most amazing gift I have ever received!”

Neil found out about The SOLD Project through a friend, Kei, from Aklesia. “Kei is such a great man,” Neil says, “and if he supported SOLD, then I knew I could get behind [it].”

And what did their wedding invitees think about charitable giving instead of gift-wrapping a blender? “Mixed feelings were had by all who heard our plans. Some thought it was a dumb idea and others absolutely loved the plan,” says Neil.

Neil and Cambria chose SOLD for their wedding gift because they have both had “a BIG heart” for those affected by human trafficking, and Cambria has always had a special place in her heart for kids in Asia. The (new!) Castros also directed people to Remember Nhu, a organization started by a woman in their church that is preventing child trafficking in India.

Neil and Cambria live in Lake Oswego, Oregon. They are certified Health Coaches who help people regain their health through an optimal health program called Take Shape For Life. They help guide clients on this path to better health and give them the tools for long-term success.

And as for their big day last month? “It was magical.”
